ENTEBE, UGANDA – Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has appeared in public after two days of speculations that the veteran politician was being hospitalized for an apparent coronavirus infection in Kenya and Germany.

The speculations started a day after Museveni, 76, decided to stricken measures put forth by his government to curtail the spread of the deadly coronavirus pandemic following the resurgence of cases for a new variant.

Several social media users on twitter and Facebook have speculated that the Ugandan leader had been flown to Kenya in a chopper, then to Germany following deterioration of his health.

However, the Ugandan president was seen arriving at Speke Resort Munyonyo which is located approximately 40 minutes drive from Entebbe International Airport, and 20 minutes from Kampala city center. There, the president is expected to officiate the World Health Summit’s regional meeting.

He was seen entering the summit hall flanked by his wife Janet Museveni.

The summit which is being organized by Makerer University in partnership with the Ugandan government is expected to discuss central issues including those that are in line with the African journey towards meeting the UN Sustainable Development Goals and achieving universal health coverage.

Topics include the Health of the African Youth, Advancing Technology for Health in Africa, Infectious Diseases and Global Health Security, Stemming the Tide of Non-Communicable Diseases in Low- and Middle-Income Countries, and Inter-Sectoral Action for Health.
