EXCLUSIVE: National Dialogue withdraws final report over disagreements

JUBA – South Sudan’s National Dialogue Steering Committee has withdrawn its final report after disagreements emerged over the wording of some of the recommendations in the report, according to a senior member of the committee.

“What has happened is that there were disagreements on the words that should be used in some recommendations of the final report of the National Dialogue,” one senior member of the National Dialogue Committee said in during a phone call with Sudans Post this morning.

Another official of the committee contacted by Sudans Post said the disagreement mostly centered on how to refer to the 2013 Juba massacre as some have suggested to use ‘Juba massacre’ instead of ‘Juba fighting’ which is written in the report.

“For example, some people want to use ‘Juba massacre’ instead of ‘Juba fighting of 2013’ and this has been one of the sticking points and that is why we have decided to withdraw the final report of the committee and we evaluate it and after that we will resubmit it to the office of the president,” the official said.
