AWEIL – The governor of Northern Bahr el Ghazal State, Tong Aken Ngor has cautioned traders against exploiting traders in the wake of the depreciation of the local currency (SSP) against the United States Dollar (USD).

He made the remarks while addressing the congregation that attended prayer service at St. George Catholic Church in the state capital, Aweil on Easter Sunday.

Aken said he was in Juba and witnessed the hard conditions citizens were facing.

He, however, said his government is working hard to bring imports into the country.

“I appeal to traders in the state and beyond not to take advantage of the rise of dollars on the destitute. Kindly make proper decisions on how you can sell consumer goods at affordable prices to our local citizens,” said Ngor.

He vowed to meet the business community in order to agree on price harmonization.

Meanwhile, Ngor said he assured President Salva Kiir about the security stability in the state and that they are working with international partners to seek ways of aiding the population, including returnees from Sudan.
