JUBA – Nilepet official who was arrested by police on Friday after a former colleague sued him for illegally recording him has been sneaked out of a police jail in the capital Juba, several sources told Sudans Post this morning.

Angony Lual Angony, an auditor for the Nilepet was arrested on Friday afternoon by the police after a former colleague, Deng Akoon, filed a lawsuit against him for deliberately recording him, something that eventually led to his dismissal from the state oil firm.

Speaking to Sudans Post this morning, a source in Juba said Angony was released following the intervention of the Nilepet boss, Dr, Chol Deng, and was sneaked out of Juba to Nimule heading to Uganda where he is said to take plane for Khartoum.

“Angony who was arrested yesterday has been released by Dr. Chol [Deng], the head of Nilepet and he has been taken to Nimule. As we speak, he is in Nimule heading to Kampala and from there he will go to the Sudanese capital Khartoum,” the source said.

The source who refused to be identified said Angony had called Dr. Chol in the afternoon shortly before he was locked up, telling him that some people from Awan community were conspiring against him for supporting him.

“Angony Lual was allowed to call by the police. He told Dr. Chol that some individuals in the Awan community were conspiring against him and they were jailing him for standing with Dr. Chol and this is where Dr. Chol intervened and bribed the police,” the source added.

It is not the first time for Angony to be involved in a recording scandal. Earlier this year, an army general got into confrontation with him for wiretapping him on behalf of the National Security Service.

The NSS later on summoned the army general but later released him. This later caused tensions between community members, something that had to take high-level mediation by senior government officials.
