BOR — The governor of South Sudan’s Jonglei State, Dr. Riek Gai Kok, on Friday directed the newly appointed Commissioner of Fangak County, Johnson Kuol Gai, to prioritize the delivery of basic services to citizens.

Governor Gai issued this directive during the swearing-in of Johnson Kuol Gai as commissioner of Fangak County at the Jonglei State Coordination office in Juba on Friday.

“Your role in effectively implementing government policies will be crucial in delivering the dividends of democracy to our people,” Gai said.

Dr. Gai said Johnson Kuol Gai’s appointment came as a result of a good track record of integrity, and dedication to public service in the local government.

He instructed the Fangak Commissioner Gai to leverage his extensive experience and expertise for the success of his administration.

“As a public servant, you are the face of this government, and the citizens of Fangak County look to you to not only uphold the principles of accountability but also to embody the spirit of unity, peace, innovation, and responsiveness.”

Acknowledging the significant challenges ahead, Governor Riek expressed confidence in his dedication to transforming Fangak County.

“Your mandate is to reposition our tertiary institutions to equip the youth with the requisite skills and knowledge to compete globally,” he said.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to peace and security, infrastructural development, effective healthcare services, education, and good governance across all counties in Jonglei State.

“I urge you to bring your expertise to bear in revitalizing the education sector, enhancing security, and making our institutions centers of excellence.”

The governor urged Commissioner Gai to meticulously study the administration’s developmental blueprint and align his work with its established goals.

He encouraged the introduction of innovative ideas to accelerate progress within Fangak County and the state as a whole.
