JUBA – Celebratory matches are ongoing in Cueibet County of South Sudan’s Lakes State after the security forces there shot dead a serial killer in the area, Lakes state police spokesman Capt. Elijah Mabor Makuac has confirmed to Sudans Post.

Captain Mabor said Marial Makech, known for notorious acts including the killing of men and women, was killed on Wednesday afternoon when he set police houses as a revenge for pursuing him for various crimes in the state.

“They came,” he said of Marial and his associates, “and started to set the houses of police on fire as a revenge of the house that were burnt down by security forces and police personnel tried to intervene, he felt into their ambush and they killed him at Abyei-Cok.”

He said people are celebrating the killing of the notorious criminal at Abyei Cok in Cueibet County.

“People are celebrating now at Abyei Cok for the great event that has happened, they are not celebrating the lost of security personnel, they are celebrating the death of notorious criminal Marial Makech who has been disturbing the whole area,” he said.

He disclosed that the security forces are still pursuing the suspects believed to be responsible for a spate of cattle raid in the area.

“Another criminal called Machuil is at large, but the security forces are still pursuing him, and we hope to find him and crack him down,” he said.
