The RSF reportedly broke into several banks and homes in the town, looting money and valuables. They also reportedly beat and injured several civilians.
In response, angry civilians took to the streets with machetes and other weapons to force the RSF out of town.
The RSF eventually withdrew from the town, but they are reportedly still in the area.
One eyewitness, who asked not to be named, told Sudans Post that the rebel group arrived in Bara town in the early hours of Saturday morning.
They immediately began looting banks and homes as they entered the two without resistance, he said.
“They broke into the banks and stole a lot of money,” the eyewitness said. “They also broke into several homes and stole everything they could find.”
The eyewitness said that the RSF also beat and injured several civilians. “They beat a man with a machete and left him bleeding on the ground,” he said. “They also beat a woman and her child.”

Another eyewitness, who also asked not to be named, said that the RSF attack has caused widespread fear and panic in Bara town. “People are afraid to leave their homes,” he said. “They are afraid of being attacked by the RSF.”
“The army must do something to stop the RSF,” he said. “They are terrorizing the people of Bara town.”
