JUBA – South Sudan’s Civil Aviation Authority (SSCAA) has ordered the temporary grounding of Nyanbiting Aviation Cargo plane over safety concerns days after a fatal plane crash killed five crew members after takeoff from Juba airport.

In a letter addressed to the owner of the plane, the SSCAA said the plane is only grounded for safety concerns and has not however stated when the plane will be reinstated to service.

“In a reference to the above cited subject, please be informed that the aircraft registered 3D-GSS has been grounded to safety concerns,” a letter addressed to Nyanbiting and other reads.

According to the letter, the plane is being run by one pilot, but the plane is certified as a multi-crew plane only.
