South Sudan lawmaker and VP Hussein’s aide dies in Khartoum

Stephen Lual Ngor, the spokesman of South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) said from South Sudan's capital Juba that Hon. Simon Arkangelo, a member of the recently reconstituted parliament on the ticket of the (SSOA), died in the Sudanese capital Khartoum on Sunday.

KHARTOUM – A South Sudan opposition politician and aide to Vice-President Hussein Abdelbaggi has died in the Sudanese capital Khartoum days after being referred to Sudan for treatment of unknown sickness, an opposition spokesman told Sudans Post this afternoon.

Stephen Lual Ngor, the spokesman of South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) said from South Sudan’s capital Juba that Hon. Simon Arkangelo, a member of the recently reconstituted parliament on the ticket of the (SSOA), died in the Sudanese capital Khartoum on Sunday.

“This is to confirm to you that Honorable Simon Arkangelo, the technical advisor to H.E. Vice President Hussein Abdelbagi Akol, has passed away in Khartoum, the capital of the Republic of Sudan,” Lual said.

“With hearts full of faith in God, the South Sudan Patriotic Movement/Army (SSPM/A) and South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) alike extend their deepest and sincere condolences to the family of our dear colleague and Member of Parliament, Honorable Simon Arkangelo, who passed away in Sudan on Sunday,” Lual added.

He further said “we are asking the Lord Almighty to bless the deceased with his mercy and to render to his family and relatives the needed patience and solace and forgive him and have mercy on him.”

Arkangelo was a member of the National Movement for Change (SSNMC). He is also a member of the SSOA Leadership Council.
