JUBA, JUNE 25, 2023 (SUDANS POST) – South Sudan opposition leader Dr. Lam Akol Ajawin has departed Sudan for Ethiopia and will stay in the East African country for a period of time for security reasons, a senior official allied to him told Sudans Post on Sunday.

The official who requested not to be named said Akol left Khartoum, the capital of Sudan, following outbreak of violence in April and is currently in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa where he will stay without returning to South Sudan now for security reasons.

“The chairman Dr. Lam Akol Ajawin is now in Addis Ababa. He got there following the beginning of the war in Sudan and he will stay there. He will not go to South Sudan because of security reasons,” the official said.

When asked for comment by Sudans Post, Mahmoud Solomon, the spokesman of National Democratic Movement (NDM) led by Dr. Lam Akol Ajawin, refused to comment, saying he is not in a position to comment about the NDM leader’s whereabouts.
