South Sudan to host regional oil and gas conference tomorrow to woo investors – oil minister

South Sudan will host Africa oil and power conference in tomorrow to woo global investors amid quest to boost growth of the country's economy, according to the country's minister of petroleum Puot Kang Chuol.

JUBA – South Sudan will host Africa oil and power conference in tomorrow to woo global investors amid quest to boost growth of the country’s economy, according to the country’s minister of petroleum Puot Kang Chuol.

The senior government official disclosed this during a meeting with President Salva Kiir Mayardit at the state house J1 in Juba on Monday, according to a statement issued by the presidency following the meeting.

“Puot Kang Chuol briefed H.E. the President about Africa Oil and Power Conference that will take place tomorrow in Juba on 29th June 2021, which will be attended by regional and continental Ministers of Petroleum and Energy,” the statement said.

Kang said briefed President Kiir on the progress made towards the improvement of the oil sector.

“The President directed the Minister of Petroleum to implement the resolutions that were passed by the Council of Ministers meeting on the improvement of the oil sector,” it said.

The resolutions include the Unified Human Resources Management Policy manual, Local Content, Cost recovery audit and Environmental audit.

“President Salva Kiir Mayardit promised his attendance to officially launch the opening of Africa Oil and Power Conference that will take place in Juba at Crown Hotel tomorrow morning,” it said.

Chuol assured the President of his readiness towards improvement of the oil sector and pledged to do his utmost best to implement his directives.
