State-owned petroleum firm reopens fuel retailing stations in Juba

JUBA – South Sudan’s state-run oil firm, the Nilepet, has reopened a number of fuel retailing stations in the some areas of the capital Juba, according to the newly-appointed Managing Director of the oil company.

Previously, the Nilepet has been running a number of fuel retailing stations in the capital, but former managing director, Dr. Chol Deng, shut up the stations in 2018 under unclear circumstances resulting in the hike of fuel prices and increased queues.

Speaking to Sudans Post this morning, Engineer Bol Ring, the newly-appointed director of the company said the launch of the stations in Juba will help reduce the fuel prices and scarcity and would be extended to the states in the near future.

“Yesterday I reopened fuel retailing states in Juba. This process will help reduce the burden placed on the citizens by the scarcity and will also help reduce the queues,” the head of the government company said.

“This will be extended in the state in the future, I mean in the near future,” he added.
