BENTIU – Unity state governor Nguen Manytuil Wijang has pledged over 2 million South Sudanese pounds for displaced women living at a United Nations protection of civilian site in Rubkona, according to a statement.

Currently, the Rubkona POC houses tens of thousands of civilians who fled the deadly seven-year-old civil war which ended in February with the formation of the Revitalized Transitional Government of National Unity (R-TGONU) as consequent of the revitalized peace agreement.

In a statement on Friday, Manytuil’s office said a group of businesswomen visited the governor at his office in Bentiu where they were offered the over 2 million pounds.

“Hon governor Manytuil has today received a group of women traders in POCS. Women traders in POCS are categorically doing small scale businesses and micro entrepreneurs activities,” the press office for the government said.

The statement said the money would help “boost their businesses and earn more income from the market.”
