JUBA — A senior South Sudan main armed Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) official allied to First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny has berated the government of Northern Bahr el Ghazal state because “they don’t know how a government operates”.

This comes after the press secretary in the office of the governor in Northern Bahr el Ghazal state claimed that First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny hasn’t served the governor’s office with a copy of a letter that is actually directed to the governor over the two Aweil West Payams of Ajuet and Chimel.

Machar last week wrote to the Governor Tong Akeen Ngor asking him to suspend controversial plans to transfer Ajuet and Chimel payams from Aweil West to Aweil twon which the SPLM-IO has said is a violation of the revitalized peace agreement and the return to 10 states.

But the governor’s office said in a statement seen by Sudans Post that the letter was not channeled by the First Vice President’s office through official channels and that they only saw it on social media.

Responding to the claim, Dut Majokdit, a member of SPLM-IO National Liberation Council (NLC) and a close ally of First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny said the claims that the FVP did not channel the information through the governor’s office said.

“If you haven’t been given a copy of the directives by the first Vice President, if you saw it on social media, how do you response to speculations on social media?” he asked.

The senior opposition official said the governor’s office was the recipient of the directives of the First Vice President and that they had confirmed that they received the directives saying the claims that they haven’t received the directive was an evidence that they don’t know how a government operates.

“The letter of the First Vice President was directed to the governor because of the illegal changes that he was trying to effect and they confirmed that they have received the directive,” he said.

“This is actually because they don’t know how a government operates,” he added.
