An official order issued on May 17, 2024, accuses Komo Dee of frequent absences from his post and a lack of communication with state authorities regarding his travels.
The order further suggests that Komo Dee’s leadership has not met the government’s expectations for effective county administration. It says that the suspension will remain in effect until further notice.
John Abdallah, the Mvolo County Executive Director, has been named acting commissioner in Komo Dee’s absence.
Komo Dee, however, has disputed the governor’s actions. He claims he hasn’t received any official notification of his suspension and maintains the governor lacks the authority to remove him without proper justification.
“I haven’t seen any official document regarding this suspension,” Komo Dee reportedly said. “Furthermore, I believe the governor is overstepping his bounds by suspending me without a valid reason.”
Komo Dee vigorously defended his record as commissioner, asserting he is among the best in Western Equatoria when it comes to security and development initiatives within Mvolo County.
“I stand by my record and have full confidence that I haven’t committed any wrongdoing,” Komo Dee reportedly stated.
“I intend to obtain a copy of this alleged suspension order and pursue the matter further,” he added.
The suspension has created tension, with Komo Dee contesting the governor’s decision. It remains unclear whether the suspension will be lifted or lead to further disciplinary actions.
