The multiple attacks, according to Abyei Administrative Area minister of information and government spokesman Honorable Ajak Deng, were launched during the early hours on Monday and targeted southern Abyei areas of Madiing, Mabuony, Juoljok and Agok Airstrip Estate inside Aneet town.
Several sources in Abyei said that there is fear that dozens of people might have been killed in the attacks, but the Ajak said government security agencies were still collecting information as to what has been lost and how many are casualties.
In a statement to Sudans Post, Yakani who is the Executive Director of Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CPO) condemned that attacks and urged President Slava Kiir to find a durable solution to the conflict between the two neighboring communities.
“CEPO would like to take this opportunity to appeal to President Salva Kiir Mayardit to find and sanction a durable solution for the ongoing violence between the Twic Dinka and Ngok Dinka,” Yakani said in the statement.
“The people of Abyei cannot stand attacks from their brothers in South Sudan when they are also under attack from the Arab militiamen which has killed many people since the start of the year 2022,” the prominent activist further added.
