They are charged with embezzlement of food worth 150 million AZN
As a result of the operation conducted by the State Security Service (DTX) in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, it is reported that Finance Minister Rafael Aliyev was arrested.
He was also held responsible for the criminal case investigated by the State Criminal Court. Accusations of embezzlement of a large amount were brought against him, and a preventive measure of four months was applied. We are talking about embezzlement worth 150 million AZN.
As a result of the operation conducted by the State Customs Committee of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on November 23, the number of people arrested has increased. Before that, Mansur Asgarov, the head of the Customs Tariff Regulation and Payments Department of the Committee, was arrested. Two days ago, the chairman of the committee, General Sahat Habibbayli, was also detained.
It is reported that more than 100 million AZN on products were discovered in Nakhchivan customs as a result of the operation of the DTX. According to the claim, embezzlement practices were uncovered. Along with the official electronic system, there were also unofficial calculations. The figures there differ sharply from those in the official system.
A large amount of embezzlement, abuse of power and other charges were brought against the arrested customs officers.
The investigation of this case is also being conducted by the Chief Investigation Department of the State Criminal Investigation Department.
Sehat Habibbeyli is the son of Isa Habibbeyli, the president of the National Academy of Sciences. His father did not deny the news of his arrest:
“I have nothing to say about my son and what happened in Nakhchivan. I think that asking questions to the father about the child is unethical,” Habibbeyli told “gununsesi.info”.
When asked “Where is your son, do you know about him?” Isa Habibbayli said “I don’t know where he is, I don’t know” and hung up the phone.
Since March 2019, Sahat Habibbeyli was the chairman of the Nakhchivan MR Customs Committee.
