Skate Egg Casings

These are Skate egg casings.  While not a seashell, they sometimes can wash up on different beaches.  If you find one that seems to have liquid inside, it means that it has not hatched yet but winds or currents have washed it up on shore before it hatches.  Most of the times, the ones you find on the beach, have already hatched and will have a hole somewhere on them where the baby ray has hatched.  They also can be called the Mermaids Purse or Devils Purse
