Cannabis can treat depression. Although cannabis can help reduce stress, it is only temporary. However, cannabis doesn't have long-term benefits. Non-users experience more depression when they use cannabis. University of Buffalo researchers found that feelings, mode, and well-being are all affected by a chemical compound called Endocannabinoids. Many cannabis compound compounds also activate the brain's receptor for endocannabinoids. Studies on rats have shown that the amount of endocannabinoids produced under stress conditions is lower than it would be in normal situations. You can use cannabis to enhance endocannabinoid activity in stressful conditions. Stress symptoms will therefore decrease. Important to keep in mind: This research has not been done on people. An additional 2018 study concluded that short-term smoking of cannabis could reduce stress symptoms. Another study found that long-term smoking doesn't decrease stress symptoms. In some instances, cannabis may cause stress to increase. The Journal of Biology and Medicine reported that 95% of those surveyed said cannabis provided them with short-term relief from their symptoms of depression. Research has proven that cannabis quickly reduces stress symptoms, at least in the short-term. Unfortunately, long term effects are not evident. In fact, long-term stress symptoms can be worsened by cannabis.
