THE AMERASIAN
I wouldn't dare try again.
But...may I kiss you?
The girl says nothing. The Amerasian lifts her chin and kisses her
gently on the lips. She doesn't know how to kiss him back. Her fingers
claw at his arms, and she trembles. The Amerasian stops because he
doesn't want to frighten her even though he wants to bite the plump,
moist lips. He says tenderly:
THE AMERASIAN (CONT'D)
We will give each other everything
when you grow up. I will wait. And
you do the same.
THE GIRL
What about your trip to America?
Are you still going?
THE AMERASIAN
(Thoughtfully)
The reasons I'm going are to study,
get a job, and get to know my
father's homeland. After all, I
also have American blood in my
veins. If nothing stands in the
way, I'll go, but if you want me to
stay, I will. What do you think?
The girl doesn't answer. She changes the subject.
THE GIRL
In the past, why did your father
come here?
