But eighty per cent of them have already been destroyed or degraded, and the remaining forests are under threat.

Greenpeace is working to end deforestation, and to protect the rights of the indigenous peoples and species that depend on them.

What is palm oil?

Huge areas of rainforest get destroyed to make way for palm oil plantations. In Indonesia alone, an area the size of a football pitch is lost every 25 seconds. When these forests are destroyed, local people lose their homes and amazing species like orangutans are put in danger.
