BREAKING: President Kiir delegates Rebecca Nyandeng to lead South Sudan delegation to UN General Assembly in New York.

Sep 2, 2021 — South Sudan President, Salva Kiir Mayardit, has delegated the Vice President for Gender and Youth Cluster to lead South Sudan delegation to the UN’s 76th General Assembly that will be held in New York later this month.

According to Hon Dr Barnaba Marial Benjamin, who spoke to media, following Hon. Nyandeng and President Kiir meeting today in J1, his Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit has delegated Her Excellency Rebecca Nyandeng Garang De Mabior to lead a high-level delegation to the 76th session of the United Nations.

The UN General Assembly (UNGA) is the main policy-making organ of the Organization. It’s comprised of 193 countries with South Sudan being the newest member state occupying the 193rd position.

The assembly discusses the full spectrum of international issues covered by the Charter of the United Nations.

For this year, the General Assembly will be convened at the United Nations Headquarters, New York, on Tuesday, 14 September 2021, from 3 p.m.

According to the Agenda for this year, accessed by Nyamilepedia, South Sudan might be revisited in discussions on prevention of armed conflict, financing of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, causes of conflict and the promotion of durable peace and sustainable, strengthening the role of mediation in the peaceful settlement of disputes, conflict prevention and resolution, among other discussions on development in Africa.

This will be one of the numerous sessions of the General Assembly that president Kiir has snapped in the last 15 years of his tenure.
