There are 800 contracts and 13,000km of roads and bridges presently under execution across the country by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led regime, according to Nigeria’s minister of works and housing, Babatunde Fashola.

Mr Fashola said this after inspecting construction work on the Chanchangi Bridge in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba.

He said the government was determined to link Nigerians from all parts of the country through accessible roads and bridges.

Appealing for patience from every Nigerian, Mr Fashola said soon the project’s under construction in the 36 states and FCT would be completed.

The minister also announced the federal government’s plan to take over the rehabilitation of the 30km Takum-Chanchangi-Road project from Taraba.

The Taraba state government had awarded the contract to the SCC Nigeria Ltd., but the outbreak of COVID-19 in 2020 affected its funding.

Mr Fashola said the strategic importance of the Taraba road linking parts of the country necessitated the consideration for takeover.
