Ace broadcaster Sadiq Daba has passed on

The veteran broadcaster and actor died on Wednesday after a long fight with leukemia and prostate cancer.

Sadiq Daba, an ace broadcaster and veteran actor, is dead. 

The veteran broadcaster and actor died on Wednesday after a long fight with leukemia and prostate cancer.

In 2017, Mr. Daba was diagnosed with leukemia and prostate cancer, he was then diagnosed with chronic obstructive venereal disease, at a time when it was believed he was recovering.

There had been several reports of his health failing, garnering financial support from Nigerians such as billionaire Femi Otedola and Senator Dino Melaye. 

Mr. Daba worked as a broadcaster for Nigerian Television Authority and his acting career picked up in the late 1970s, starring in Cockcrow at Dawn.

In 2015, he won the Africa Movie Academy Award for Best Actor for his role as “Inspector Waziri” in October 1.

In December 2019, Mr. Daba was honoured with an award at the Best of Nollywood Awards in Kano, where the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, supported him with the sum of N1 million.
