A displeased crowd of spectators on Tuesday booed government officials and politicians, that likely included the House of Representatives Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was also at Teslim Balogun Stadium to watch the Super Eagles match against Lesotho.

The Super Eagles defeated Lesotho 3-0 in the final fixture of the Group L 2021 AFCON qualifiers.

In a 22-second video posted by @maazi_chinedu on Twitter, a convoy apparently conveying government officials were booed and its occupants called ‘ole,’ (a Yoruba word for thief) by a crowd.

“Wait! Babajide Sanwoolu and his convoy got booed off Teslim Balogun Stadium? Is that ‘ole’ I’m hearing?, @maazi_chinedu captioned the video.

Peoples Gazette could not verify the occupants.

However, Mr Gabajabiamila and Mr Sanwo-Olu confirmed that they were at the stadium on Tuesday to cheer the national team.

“My wife and I joined the Governor of Lagos State @babajidesanwoolu, @thenff President Amaju Pinnick, at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in my Surulere 1 Federal Constituency to watch the game between Nigeria and Lesotho,” Mr Gbajabiamila said on Twitter after the match on Tuesday.

“Congrats Super Eagles.”

Similarly, Mr Sanwo-Olu tweeted after the game, “Happy to witness a victory for the Super Eagles as we celebrate the #SuperEaglesHomecoming at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.”

“Now we look forward to the African Cup of Nations. Well done to the coach, team and the supporters. #SpiritOfLagos.”

Paul Onuachu, Victor Osimhen and Oghenekaro Etebo were on target as the Nigeria defeated Lesotho.
