Armed bandits have yet again launched another deadly attack in a community in Kaduna and reportedly killed five residents.

The incident occurred at Katarma village in Chikun Local Government Area of the state.

Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, made this known in a statement issued on Sunday.

“Security agencies have reported that armed bandits attacked Katarma village in Chikun local government area.

“According to the report, five persons were killed in the attack,” Mr Aruwan said.

The statement disclosed that a resident was injured during the attack and he is receiving treatment in a neighbouring state.

In another separate incident, the statement noted that a resident identified as Afiniki Thomas was attacked by some youths in Atuku village.

The commissioner further disclosed that troops under the auspices of Operation Safe Haven arrested one of the assailants shortly after the attack.

“One of the assailants, Sani Safiyanu was arrested for profiling and investigation. The injured victim was rushed to hospital for treatment,” the commissioner stated.

“Furthermore, troops of Operation Safe Haven while on patrol discovered the decomposing corpse of one Paul Simon, a resident of Yagbak village in Zangon Kataf LGA. The deceased was reported missing on 24th March 2021. The corpse has since been buried.” Mr Aruwan added.

Bandits have continued to carry out deadly attacks in a brazen fashion across communities in Kaduna. The activities of the brigands have led to the deaths of many residents.
