Aphrodisiac seller Hauwa Muhammed, popularly known as Jaruma, had been remanded in prison for publicly calling out puported billionaire Ned Nwoko.

According to documents that have now gone viral on social media platforms, the kayan mata seller was arrested following a petition by Mr Nwoko to the FCT police. Kayan mata is a potpouri of traditional herbs being marketed to Nigerian women as having the power to amp up sexual desires, while also favouring women to wield supernatural powers over their men.

Mr Nwoko, a politician who shot to prominence after landing huge cuts from Paris Club refund, accused Jaruma of defaming his character by publishing unflattering information about him and his 21-year old wife Regina Daniels.

In 2021, Jaruma endorsed Regina to influence her aphrodisiac products on social media platforms, shortly after Regina’s Moroccan co-wife Laila Charani had a severe fall out with Ned which eventually led to a divorce.

Mr Nwoko issued a public statement, accusing Laila of recklessness and infidelity, amidst the marital saga, Jaruma took to social media to give credit to her products for its effective action following the divorce.

“If Kayamata is not working on you, why would a girl of 21 control you and your media team to type five pages report about Laila?” Jaruma said.

Regina debunked Jaruma’s claims and clarified that her services to the Jaruma brand has strictly been on the products that are not in any way fetish or sexual. She also claimed she has never used any of the Jaruma products.

“This is for clarity’s sake here, I have and will never use any kayamata product. Jaruma paid me to help make random posts for her. I personally gave my terms concerning the kind of posts to be made, I was very mindful with my choice of words so as not to mislead the public, I was simply creating awareness for her brand and along the line,” Regina said.

The police told Peoples Gazette that Jaruma was arrested and released on bail. But she was arraigned on January 25 and remanded in Suleja Prison until January 28. The police also denied being paid by Mr Nwoko to throw Jaruma in prison, saying such would amount to injustice.
