Corpse of mentally challenged 13-year-old boy found in well

The police said they suspected no foul play and have handed the corpse over to his relatives for burial.

The corpse of a mentally challenged 13-year-old boy who went missing on Saturday in Danzomo village, Sule Tankarkar Local Government of Jigawa has been recovered.

In a statement released by the Jigawa police spokesperson, Lawan Shiisu, the corpse of the deceased, identified as Gambo Yusuf, was recovered in an open well at about 12.30 p.m.

“On August 29, at about 07:40 a.m, a man, Yusuf Makeri of Danzomo village reported at the Danzomo police outstation that his 13-year-old son, who was mentally challenged, was missing and all efforts made to trace his whereabouts failed.

“However, on Sunday, his corpse was discovered in an open well in the area,” Mr Shiisu said.

The spokesman added that the corpse has been evacuated and handed over to his relatives for burial as no foul play was suspected in connection with the incident.
