A 41- year-old man has been ordered remanded for allegedly raping a 17-year-old auxiliary nurse after luring her to his home for treatment.

Magistrate Patricia Adetuyibi of the Iyaganku Family Court, Ibadan, did not take the plea of David Akinloye, after he was arraigned for rape on Thursday.

She instead ordered that he be remanded at the Abolongo Correctional Centre, Oyo, pending advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

Mrs Adetuyibi, thereafter, adjourned the matter till May 12, for mention.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Inspector Folake Ewe, told the court that Mr Akinloye, on February 28, at about 12 midnight at Amuloko, Idi-Ose area of Ibadan, had carnal knowledge of a 17-year-old girl without her consent.

Ms Ewe said: “The victim is an auxiliary nurse in her area, known by the defendant who asked her to come and treat him at home.

“After the treatment, the defendant told her that he could help her secure admission into Oyo State School of Nursing, to which the victim showed interest.

“She (the victim) later went to the defendant’s house to finalise matters on the admission when the defendant pounced on her and raped her.”

According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes Section 34 of Oyo State Child’s Right Law, 2006.
