COVID-19 cases surge in Lagos as Nigeria records 1,051 infections
The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says Lagos topped the COVID-19 chart with 599 new cases out of the 1,051 cases recorded in Nigeria on Thursday.
The NCDC disclosed this via its website on Friday morning.
Nigeria now has 221,071 COVID-19 cases.
On December 11, Lagos topped the chart with 483 out of the 612 new infections. The centre said there was no fatality recorded in the country.
The NCDC added that the pandemic had claimed 2,983 lives across the country since the outbreak in 2020.
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) recorded 238 cases while Rivers had 79. Oyo had 51, Ondo (32), Plateau (20), Akwa Ibom (11), Ogun (seven), Bayelsa (five), Kano (five), and Kwara (four).
The NCDC further stated that 211,345 had so far been discharged and 3,686,403 people tested.
