Derek Brunson calls out Adesanya after defeating Darren Till in UFC fight night

Brunson is seeking to avenge his KO loss to Israel Adesanya after defeating challenger Darren Till.

• September 5, 2021

Derek Brunson defeated Darren Till with a third round submission to take his tally to five wins in his last five fights on Sunday.

The fight which was initially billed for London was moved to Vegas a few weeks ago due to COVID-19 related travel concerns.

Brunson came into the fight the back of an impressive win streak, in many of which he was the underdog. He was not favoured in this fight either as it is a card that was built around Darren Till who had a lot of fellow British fighters on the card.

Darren Till started the fight very aggressively and landed some shots early but Brunson secured a takedown and could have finished the fight in the round but for some resistance and toughness by Till.

The second round was more of the same but Darren Till came out in round 3 with intent.

He hurt Brunson on the feet and looked to swarm him and get the finish but Brunson showed his high IQ and experience; he stayed composed, secured his third take down of the fight and sank in a rare naked choke.

After the fight, Derek Brunson called out Nigerian middleweight champion Israel Adesanya for a rematch.

Adesanya is likely going to be rematching Robert Whittaker early next year but Brunson will be happy to sit out and wait for his chance to avenge his first round KO loss to the champion.
