EPL: Crystal Palace drop points against mid-table rivals Arsenal

Arsenal scored a last ditch equaliser to deny hard fighting Crystal Palace maximum points in Monday’s Premier League match at the Emirates.

• October 19, 2021

In the last moments of a tightly-contested match at the Emirates, Crystal Palace conceded an excruciating goal to hand Arsenal a comeback that finished in a 2-2 draw on Monday.

Alexandre Lacazette, a second-half substitution, took advantage of Crystal Palace’s failure to clear a goalmouth scramble to earn a point during the game’s injury time.

Arsenal had taken the lead when Nicolas Pepe, who had been reinstated to the starting lineup by manager Mikel Arteta, whipped a wonderful cross that Vicente Guaita could only push into the reach of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Arsenal, on the other hand, can breathe a sigh of relief. They had started well, but became the Arsenal of the early season as Palace, led by James McCarthur, began to bother and overpower Thomas Partey in midfield.
With Monday night results, Arsenal sit on the 12th spot on the English Premier League table with 11 points from eight matches while Palace is 14th with the same number of matches played.
