FC Robo Queens of Lagos on Sunday beat Edo Queens Football Club 1-0 in the final match of the third edition of the Flying Officers Cup in Abuja.

The match was played at the old parade ground in Area 10.

FC Robo scored the goal in the first half, with Opeyemi Ajakaiye netting in the 26th minute to register her team as a defending champion.

At the resumption of the second half, Edo Queens fought well, but they were unable to utilise all their scoring chances.

Speaking after the match, Emmanuel Osahon, the head coach of FC Robo Queens, said, “I have played three finals this year from three different tournaments, and I lost the first two, and now I’m happy that I won this Flying Officers Cup here in Abuja. I played in Women AITEO Cup final match I lost, and I also played in the Betsy Obaseki Women Football tournament in Edo final match, which I also lost. But today’s final match ended with a victory from my side.”

The coach of Edo Queens FC, John Niyi, said they needed to work more to face the upcoming Nigeria Women Premier Football League (NWPL).

FC Robo Queens, the winner of the third edition of the Flying Officers Cup, went home with N2 million.
