The federal government has commenced training socially discontented youths with sympathies for the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) in various skills.

As an alternative to white-collar jobs, the Minister for Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, said the training in Owerri, Imo state, was one way the government plans to end youth poverty “and social discontent and give them a new lease of life.”

In a statement by Charles Akpan, Deputy Director, Press and Public Relations in the ministry on Friday in Abuja, Mr Ngige said after the zonal skill development training in Imo state, it would be extended to the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Mr Ngige said degree holders were also allowed to partake in the skills training. “This is a golden opportunity for you to add to the paper certificate you already have,” Mr Ngige said.
