The Federal Government has called on Nigerians to volunteer their skills to fast track development in priority areas such as education, health and governance.

Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), said this on Tuesday at a one-day stakeholders meeting organised by Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) in Abuja.

Mr Mustapha, represented by Emma Ekwugha, Deputy Director, Nigerian National Volunteer Service (NNVS) Political and Economic Affairs, Office of  the OSGF, said the Federal Executive Council had approved National Policy on Inclusive Volunteerism for Nigeria in December 2020.

He noted that the policy provided guidelines and directions for effective management of volunteerism in the country.

Mr Mustapha called on private sectors, Non-Governmental Organisations and Community-Based Organisations to be conversant with the policy document and resolute in leading others to make volunteerism for development a lifestyle beginning with their immediate communities.

He noted that NNVS had carried out advocacy campaign programme to all the three geo-political zones in the north with the hope of doing same in the southern part of the country in 2022.

The OSGF added that the essence of the campaign was to promote volunteerism in the zonal/states and local government areas of the federation.
