The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has advised motorists to exercise patience and drive with caution on the highway to stem road crashes during the yuletide.

The Ore unit commander of FRSC in Ondo State, Siikiru Alonge, advised on Wednesday.

Mr Alonge noted that there was always high vehicular movement during festivities which makes most drivers, especially commercial drivers, want to go for many trips to make more money.

He said this makes most drivers to drive recklessly and carelessly on the highway which often results in crashes that could be avoided.

“We are approaching the yuletide period when we experience high vehicular movement on the highway.

“Most drivers throw caution to the wind because they want to go for as many trips as possible to make more money.

“Motorists and other road users should always exercise patience to reduce their speed on the highway to avoid crashes which can be avoided,” Mr Alonge said.

He, however, urged drivers to always obey traffic rules and regulations on the highway.

He warned that any driver that contravened traffic rules would be arrested and prosecuted.
