Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo on Monday evening joined the special task force team to ensure compliance with N165 approved pump price of petrol at filling stations in the state.

Mr Akeredolu alongside the special task force team visited filling stations in the Akure metropolis including Sunbeth Petrol Station, Oke-Aro, Idanre Road, Akure, to ensure compliance.

Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Richard Olatunde, said in a statement that Mr Akeredolu visited Sunbeth petrol station after he was briefed that the petrol station took delivery of fuel last night, but refused to sell to cars and motorcycles.

“Mr governor visited the station to ensure that the people of the state are not made to go through unnecessary hardship in the face of the lingering fuel scarcity.

“The Head of the Governor’s Task Force and Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties, Dr Doyin Odebowale, informed the Governor, that aside from selling into kegs only, the filling station owner said he would sell at N250 per litre, which is against the N165 approved pump price.

“Akeredolu went round the station and confirmed the availability of petrol, ordered that the product be sold to motorcycles and cars at the approved pump price of N165.

“The people, mostly commercial motorcyclists hailed the governor for rising to their aid. They particularly thanked him for not allowing them to be exploited and subjected to undue hardship,” he said.
