GOTW: Dbanj new EP; Mercy Lambo’s lavish birthday; BBNaija weekly recap

Peoples Gazette gives a rundown of notable happenings in the showbiz industry in the past week.

• October 3, 2021

Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo, popularly known as D’banj, has dropped a new EP titled “stress free”.

The body of work is a fusion of Afrobeat, blending various musical dynamics to the delight of the Koko Master fans.

The “stress free” EP comprises eight tracks featuring big artists like Burna Boy, Seun Kuti, and Fela’s outstanding music band Egypt 80.

“I went back to a legacy which is why I got Egypt 80 led by Seun Kuti on all seven tracks and then eased into a realm of zero anxiety after the turbulent period that the world has been through. We had a lot of fun in the studio and hopefully this all shows up on the record,” D’Banj tells Pulse.

D’Banj endured flaks over a rape allegation from a woman, Seyitan Babatayo, last year, culminating in a defamation suit against the accuser.

Ms Babatayo later withdrew her petition to the police, forcing the police to clear the singer of any wrongdoing.

Again, BBNaija season four winner Mercy Eke oppresses the gram as she lavishly celebrates her  28th birthday in grand style.

Aside from gifting herself a brand new house to mark her birthday, the reality show star revealed she spent a whopping sum of N1.8 million on her birthday outfits alone.

The luxurious party took place at the popular Circa restaurant in Lagos, with BBNaija stars like Erica, Laycon, Maria, Dorathy, Venita Akpofure, Nini, Prince, Khloe, Michael, Jackie B, Lilo, Seyi, Frodd, Lucy, Tuoyo, Kim Oprah, Saskay, Diane, Esther and other celebrities in attendance.

Her fans gifted her a $10k scholarship to Harvard Business School as a birthday gift.

The ceremony comes after her clothing line’s grand opening, M & M.

As the sixth season of BBNaija winds down, the show now has six finalists unlike five housemates in previous editions.

Angel, Cross, Pere, Whitemoney, Liquorose and Emmanuel stand the chance of walking away with the N90 million prize.

But before a winner would be announced, tasks were performed during the week as usual. One of such was the Innoson task where Pere emerged as the winner with a brand new car as his prize.

This week, housemates were also surprised when evicted housemates joined them for the final Saturday night live party.

The grand winner will be announced during the final eviction show on Sunday October 3, 2021.
