The Coalition of Orphanages and Children’s Homes in Nigeria (COCHIN) has commended Davido for donating N250 million to orphanage homes across the country.

Eze Ajoku, president of the coalition, made the commendation on Friday in Abuja.

Mr Ajoku who commended the magnanimity and generosity of Davido, said he had restored confidence in the orphans who had long suffered neglect.

“Davido, May God bless you for remembering the orphanage homes who have suffered national neglect for decades now.

“With this singular donation, you have put smiles on the faces of those orphans the way their government is supposed to do it for them,” he said.

The coalition president urged stakeholders to emulate Davido in rescuing orphanage homes from the doldrums of abandonment.

He advocated a collective effort of state and non-state actors to support proprietors of orphanage homes for improved welfare and care of orphans.

He said the less privileged and vulnerable communities ought to be a direct responsibility of government and well-to-do Nigerians as it is done in other climes.

Mr Ajoku, however, described Davido’s donation as a challenge to other rich persons in the country, urging them to rise to the occasion.
