Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker Extraordinary Convention and Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, says the party has added a number of high profile Nigerians to its membership.

Mr Buni was speaking when he received state officials and members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Yobe who defected to the APC on Tuesday.

The defectors are the PDP’s state deputy chairman Usman Amale, and the party’s assistant secretary Ahmadu Biriri.

In receiving the defectors, Mr Buni said, “We are welcoming high profile Nigerians from all walks of life, from different backgrounds, cultures, religions and geo-political backgrounds.

“The solution to the problems facing Nigeria lies in the political stability of the country; we should all come together to promote our unity for development.”

Mr Buni assured Messrs Amale and Biriri of equal rights and opportunities like other members.

Speaking on behalf of them, Mr Amale said, “We had no reason being in PDP because our leader and Chairman of APC needs the support for political stability in Nigeria.”
