Nigeria’s star striker Kelechi Ihenacho grabbed a hat-trick as Leicester defeat Sheffield United 5-0.

The 24-year-old Nigerian has struggled to find his feet in the team since his arrival in 2017. Manchester City offloaded him to Leicester that year even after scoring and assisting in his first Manchester Derby in 2016.

Leicester City bought Ihenacho in a reported €25 million fee on a five-year contract from the Etihad Stadium in 2017.

Ihenacho led the scoring sheet in the 39th minute after receiving a low cross from Englishman Jamie Vardy.

Leicester’s Ayoze Perez doubled the lead in the 64th minute after the Sheffield United attack collapse and a counterattack punished them for the lapses.

The Imo-Born player scored his second goal of the match in the 69th minute just 30 minutes after his first goal. The second goal came in the same pattern revealing the fine combination between Ihenacho and Vardy.

The former FIFA U-17 Golden Ball winner completed his hat-trick of the game in the 78th minute with a fine shot from a distance outside the box 18.

Iheanacho’s third goal was one made in Nigeria as his fellow countryman, Wilfred Ndidi provides the assist to the goal.

Jamie Vardy sealed the game with the fifth goal of the match in the 80th minute with Former Blues Ethan Ampadu deflecting the goal inwards.

Kelechi Ihenacho now has his first Premier League hat-trick after six years first with Manchester City and now with Leicester City.

The Nigerian striker has now scored in three consecutive premier league matches against Burnley, Brighton and now Sheffield United. His total stats now read 36 goals and 14 assists.

Leicester City remain second on the Premier League table with Manchester United playing West-ham United later in the day.

Nigerians will be hoping Ihenacho extends the fine form to the AFCON qualifier matches against Lesotho and Benin Republic coming up later this month.
