The police command in Jigawa says it has arrested 10 suspected criminals in Taura and Kiyawa local government areas.

The police said the arrests took place during raids carried out at various black spots and criminal hideouts.

A spokesman for the police in Jigawa, Lawan Shiisu, said that the raids were conducted between November 4 and 10.

Mr Shiisu disclosed that the raids carried out at Taura, Gujungu, and Kwalam villages of Taura LGA were on November 4, at about 7:30 p.m., where three suspects aged between 26 and 37 were arrested.

He further noted that two wraps of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, cold patch solution, popularly known as sholishi, 100-litres of local beer (burukutu), and armoured cable, were seized from the suspects.

The police spokesman added that seven other suspects were nabbed at Shuwarin village on November 10, at 4:00 p.m. in Kiyawa LGA.

He stated that even though the suspects were not found with any exhibit, an investigation into their case was still ongoing.

The command had, on October 9, announced the arrest of 14 suspected criminals in Gumel and Kazaure LGAs.

During the raids, dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, two unregistered motorcycles and reel paper were seized.
