Security agencies’ efforts to arrest self-acclaimed Yoruba activist Sunday Adeyemo popularly known as Sunday Igboho was resisted by fierce-looking men along the Lagos Ibadan expressway on Friday.

A video shared by News Direct on Facebook showed vehicles of Oyo state’s Operation Burst, a joint security task force, at the scene of the confrontation.

Officers of the police, army and State Security Service were also seen in the video looking hapless as the irate youths pour invectives on them.

Mr. Sunday Adeyemo had in January issued a quit notice to criminal herdsmen operating in Southwest’s forest reserves. He accused the herdsmen of terrorising farmers and villagers.

Peoples Gazette reported how President Muhammadu Buhari had ordered a shoot-at-sight on Igboho. Police authorities have hitherto refrained from carrying out the arrest until now.

The controversy which has been winding down might have been reawakened by the government’s attempt to arrest Igboho.

This is a developing story.
