The Kaduna state government has donated 30 blankets, five cartons of diapers and other relief materials to 1,610 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Kajuru Local Government Area.

Other items donated were 50 bags of rice, 50 bags of Garri, 5 bags of sugar, five bags of salt, 50 mats, and 10 cartons of sanitary pads.

Making the donations, the Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (KADSEMA), Muhammed Mukaddas, on Monday in Kaduna, said the donation was not compensation for the loss of lives and property, but a token to bring relief to the victims.

He noted that Katura and Rubu communities in the local government areas were worst affected in the attack.

Receiving the items on behalf of the victims, the Kajuru LGA vice chairman, Daniel Ayuba, commended the agency for the donation.

“We thought the agency was just coming for a visit; not knowing relief items will be brought to us. This shows that the state government cares for us,” Mr Ayuba said.

He assured that the items would get to the affected persons and called on the state government to improve security in the area as the attacks had become incessant.

Those displaced from their homes as a result of the January 4th and 5th attacks are taking refuge at Marabar Kajuru Primary school in Kajuru LGA.
