Kano emir, Ibrahim Abdulkadir, is dead

Ibrahim Abdulkadir, the Emir of Gaya, one of Kano emirates has died after a brief illness, Peoples Gazette has learnt.

Abubakar Ibrahim, the special assistant to Kano State Governor Umar Ganduje on Social Media announced the death on his Facebook page.

“To Allah we belong and to Him we shall return. May God bless the king of Gaya, Alh. Ibrahim Abdulkadir is now dead,” Mr Ibrahim said.

Mr Abdulkadir, 91, died on Wednesday morning in kano state after a brief illness.

Born in 1930, he is survived with three wives and 28 children.

The Gaya Emirate is one of the new emirates created by Mr Ganduje in 2019. Others are Bichi, karaye and Rano.

He was the district head of Minjibir and Kunci from 1990 until his installation as the Emir of Gaya.
