On Tuesday, Kano Pillars Volleyball Club defeated the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) 3-0 to win the 2021 Nigeria Volleyball Premier League.

They beat NSCDC in all three sets (32-30, 25-20, and 25-21) to show their supremacy over their rival.

“We couldn’t have made it without God. I also thank Ibrahim Galadima, executive chairman of Kano State Sports Commission, who had been the brain behind this victory,” said the team’s coach Musa Baba.

Also speaking with journalists, the NSCDC coach, Samuel Ajayi, commended his players for fighting hard for the trophy, though they did not win.

Mr Ajayi said the NSCDC would re-strategise preparatory to the next edition of the league.

Emmanuel Okeke of NSCDC received the ‘Most Valuable Player’ award in the men’s category.

Helen Imeh of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) received the ‘Most Valuable Player’ for the women’s category.
