Lagos couple charged with stealing neighbour’s N2.2 million

The husband was said to have stolen N560,000, while the wife stole N1.68 million.

For allegedly stealing N2.2 million from a neighbour, a couple – Daniel Idoko and Rose Idoko – have been arraigned before an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.

The defendants, aged 35 and 32, appeared before the Magistrate, Ademola Adesanya. They, however, pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Simeon Uche, told the court that the couple committed the offence in December 2021.

He alleged that the defendants stole from the complainant, also named Rose Idoko, with whom they shared accommodation on Jazz Ave., Iba Town, Ojo.

According to the prosecutor, Daniel stole N560,000 from the complainant while Rose stole N1.68 million, in contravention of  Section 9(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The magistrate granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum, and adjourned the case until May 13 for mention.
