Lagos: Fire breaks out at LAMATA bus terminal in Ajah

No casualties have been reported and the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

A fire broke out at the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) terminal in Ajah, Lagos on Saturday.

The fire broke out from the last floor of the newly built facility around 9:00 a.m., on Saturday. Footage on social media showed thick black smoke pouring out of the roof of the building.

The officials of the Lagos State Fire Service are at the scene combating the fire. No casualties have been reported and the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.

LASTMA confirmed the fire incident on its twitter page @followlastma, noting that normalcy has been restored. “We just got a report that LAMATA office at Ajah is on fire now. @LAG FireService have also been alerted. Cause of the fire is yet unknown.

“The earlier reported fire incident at LAMATA newly constructed shelter at Ajah is put off now. Normalcy has been restored,” @followlastma tweeted.
