No fewer than nine people sustained injuries when a tanker crushed five vehicles on the Otedola Bridge on Thursday in Lagos, according to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).

“There was no casualty, but nine people were injured at the scene. Well they have been treated and discharged,” said the South-West coordinator of NEMA, Ibrahim Farinloye.

Also, the Commander of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Lagos, Olusegun Ogungbemide, said the crash occurred around 10:40 p.m. on Thursday while the vehicles were trying to connect the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

Mr Ogungbemide said that no death was recorded and the injured victims were taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

He said the driver of the truck fled the scene before the arrival of emergency responders.

Barely six months ago, a container fell and crushed two vehicles on the same Otedola Bridge, causing the death of one person and injuring two others.
