Like Canada, Twitter should’ve labelled #EndSARS protesters as terrorists: Lai Mohammed

The minister accused both Twitter and Canada of double standards in their handling of the October 20, 2020 protest and the raging demonstrations in Canada.

Spokesman for the Buhari regime, Lai Mohammed, has lashed out at Twitter for not treating #EndSARS protesters as terrorists just as Canadian authorities have labelled protesting truckers.

The information minister accused both Twitter and Canada of double standards in their handling of the October 20, 2020 protest and the raging demonstrations in Canada.

Mr Mohammed said “The Canadian protesters, who have blockaded roads and resorted to inconveniencing others, have been branded as terrorists or insurrectionists and subjected to a number of clampdown by government and private organisations” while “Twitter has suspended the truckers account” used to raise million of dollars for the demonstrations.

He noted that similar actions were not taken by Twitter against #EndSARS agitators who he claimed caused violence and destroyed public properties.

Mr Mohammed said Canada and Twitter which described #EndSARS protesters as “peaceful” turned around to tag similar protesters in their own countries as insurrectionists and terrorists.

The minister made the accusation at a media briefing on Sunday in his hometown, Oro, in Kwara state.

Truckers in Canada have been protesting over COVID-19 vaccine mandates and other COVID-19 restrictions.
